There are plenty of benefits to gain by using a hockey passer in your daily training practices. From mastering deke moves to becoming a champion at passing for the score you can improve every part of your hockey game by pushing yourself with one of these amazing hockey training aids. However, if you fail to use the passer in an effective way you could be robbing yourself of come crucial training outcomes. If you want to get the most out of your passer, check out these tips that we have put together for those of you that are serious about your hockey skills.

Add Core to Your Training

If you want to maximize your hockey skills and get the most out of your hockey passer practice your passing skills for a half-hour on a balance board for hockey. When you couple your passer training with core building you end up with a workout that explodes your core and enhances your ability to pass and receive under pressure. It is one thing to practice on ice skates, but a whole other realm when you throw a balance board into the game.

Practice Rebound Shots

One of the greatest things about a good hockey passer is that you can point it to rebound in whatever direction you choose. Although it may sound a bit like playing pool, if you use your triangle-shaped hockey passer to pop pucks at your target you can feel your passing skills increase as you do it. You can set your passer up so that when you shoot the pucks at it they will rebound off of the passer and hit the target on your shooting tarp. When you practice shots this way you can get a true feel of the pressure that you need to pass the puck with. Instead of focusing on actually hitting the target, you focus on the angle and speed that you hit your rebounder at. Sometimes it is not about a hard, swift hit, but it is about the way you pass the puck.

Focus on Stickhandling

Although the main point of having a hockey passer is to improve your passing and receiving skills, there are many other great benefits you can get from using your imagination a little. Stickhandling is one of the most important skills to build in the game of hockey because if you can’t hold on to the puck you will never win a game. Using a passer/rebounder is a terrific way to improve both stickhandling and passing skills. If you position your passer to the far left, or the far right of you – whichever is better for you – then you pass to the passer and allow the puck to come back, but to the far opposite side that you shot from you can stop the puck at the end then slap it quickly right to left for a few times, then swiftly shoot it back to the rebounder. If you do this over and over again at a fast pace you can feel the muscles that it takes to make this work start to burn. This is how you know it is working.

Conclusion

Don’t get too caught up in the way things are supposed to be. It is entirely up to you how you choose to utilize your hockey passer or any other training aid that you have. However, keep in mind that some of the greatest athletes on this planet have minds of their own and are able to think far outside of the box. It is OK to use your own style of athleticism, but always remember that you could possibly get more out of what you are doing.
