Conquering Modern Beauty

Conquering Modern Beauty Posted On

The world of beauty has evolved immeasurably in recent history, from the early civilizations, such as Egyptians, using the raw materials around them as makeup to modern cosmetic surgery such as rhinoplasty becoming commonplace for young women. It’s almost impossible to say what beauty might look like in the next hundred, let alone thousand years.

I believe for the modern woman to truly conquer modern beauty they must first understand the seemingly endless possibilities available, and some of the reasons why something as permanent as surgery has become so popular in the world of beauty.

Botox

A word which conjures up imagery associated with both the extreme successes and failures of the use of botulinum toxin (botox), but also something perhaps not well enough understood. To skip past the confusing science behind it, botox functions by creating a flaccid paralysis which gives the visage of naturally uplifted lips, breasts, cheeks, etc.

We all know that with age parts of our bodies begin to sag and droop, this happens regardless of who you are or what you do, and can result in a lower quality of life due to a dissatisfied self-image. The first documented use of botox for cosmetic reasons was in 1989 by a plastic surgeon called Richard Clark, and it was used to treat forehead asymmetry caused by left-sided forehead nerve paralysis that occurred during a cosmetic facelift.

Since then botox has become a household name and with so many cosmetic surgeons offering the practice of injecting it, we’ve also come to learn about the mistakes that can be made and how to go about a botched injection removal. Of course the best way to avoid having to deal with that is preventative measures through checking the legitimacy of any clinic you’re considering, but it’s good to know that it’s not the end of the world if mistakes are made.

Plastic Surgery

Another term that can generate pictures both beautiful and grotesque, plastic surgery dates back to 800BC in India where they developed early rhinoplasty (nose jobs) for almost two millennia before the British came to observe and study it.

Although plastic surgery isn’t limited just to noses, with abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and breast reduction surgery and a range of other techniques to help us fit into the generalized beauty standard that exists today.

There are a myriad of reasons as to why one might pursue plastic surgery but they can range from reconstructing facial features after a traffic accident or a fire, or to reduce back pain from oversized breasts. While these reasons of pursuing may differ from person to person the underlying pursuit remains the same: adjusting the physical form to better suit the mental image one has of themself.

Many of these plastic surgeries can go unnoticed too, which may or may not be the desire of the patient, but for example earlobe repair after an earring has been accidentally torn out by a child, can be an ideal solution to such a mistake.

Regaining or increasing self confidence is something we practice in many different ways as humans, we may be resilient but we aren’t immune to the often silent social standards that expect us to fit in certain boxes.

I believe that such surgeries can be great forms of empowerment for women who may have experienced something physically or mentally scarring, and the pursuit of something like vaginal rejuvenation post child birth can revitalize an integral passion within a woman to love themself.

Knife And Needle-Free

For many women who don’t need to repair or enhance their beauty to the more seemingly extreme changes that going under a knife or needle brings, there are some great solutions. As many of these can’t be grouped together, I’ll give a brief explanation with each title:

Tattoo Removal

As a teenager or young adult many of us will experience the desire to rebel against our primary caregivers or the authority figures in our lives by inking our skin with all kinds of symbology. While this may have felt so right at the time, five years of fading in the sun and natural changes in our skin’s elasticity can leave the once powerful images looking sad and out of place. Laser tattoo removal is a great solution to this problem, and although it may cost in the way of pain and time, it can give you back an innocence which you once so heavily wanted to shake.

Laser Hair Removal

While we may walk, talk, think, and act differently to our ape counterparts, sometimes we can feel more related than we’d like, with tufts of hair sprouting out of the human body in sometimes the most unexpected places. Gone are the days of playing twister in the bathroom with a razor, or building up the courage to tear off wax strips; laser hair removal can remove hair almost painlessly in comparison with many common alternatives.

Photorejuvenation

With a name like that it sounds almost like Photoshop in real-time, and that’s almost the best comparison one can give for photorejuvenation. A skin treatment which uses lasers or photodynamic therapy to remove the softer effects of aging such as wrinkles, spots, and textures. By inducing controlled wounds on the skin, this treatment prompts the skin to heal itself and create new cells.

Fractora

If the idea of having to go through a potential silicone injection removal is a bit too much for you, then fractora might be ideal. It uses radiofrequency in a fractional way (hence the name) to tighten skin and thus remove wrinkles, as well as improving complexion. Fractora can be useful for a range of things including but not limited to: uneven brown/white pigmentation, fine lines, deep wrinkles, redness, and scars.

Of course this is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of what is out there in the modern beauty world, look up what clinics are available in your area and be sure to call and ask if they’re able to provide what you’re looking for. Remember to always do your due diligence in checking the licensing and experience of any practitioners that may provide any of these services to you.
